We’ll have to wait until Frankfurt in September to see what the replacement for Ferrari’s F430 will look like, but until then we get updates with F450 test mules disguised with F430 bodies. Not much has changed since we last saw a spy shot of the Ferrari F450. The F450 mule is distinguished by more air vents and raised tail pipes that are above the rear bumper.
We also don’t expect a huge step in design change with the production version of the F450 (just like the minimal appearance change from the 360 to the F430). The biggest reason for the name change will likely be the enlarging of the 4.3-liter V8 engine to 4.5-liters. This should take the car from 483 hp to at least 500 hp.
While Ferrari is going to the trouble of making a new car, it may also use this time to showcase some of its latest bits of technology. The F450 is rumored to possibly integrate part of the F1-inspired kinetic energy recovery system (KERS) for use on a road car. The Italian supercar may also get the seven-speed double clutch transmission that is currently utilized on the California.
