Ferrari prepares 599 GTO

When asked what is the greatest kind of Ferrari, a true Ferrarista will almost always finish their answer with the same three letters, GTO. So it is truly a pleasant surprise for us to hear that the Italian super car company has decided to built a an even more powerful GTO version of the 599 GTB Fiorano . The 599 GTO will be based on the 599 XX that we saw at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year and will honor the legendary 250 GTO from the 1960s.

The thoroughbred 599 will make extensive use of lightweight carbon fiber, that will drop about 300 pounds from the GT car bringing its curb weight down to 1450 kilograms. The 6.0 Liter V12 will be retuned to deliver somewhere between 680 and 700 HP making the future 599 GTO a real beast.

Set to be revealed next year at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show, the 599 GTO will cost owners 20-25% more than the standard model, however that will allow them to join the exclusive group of owners because Ferrari will only make 500 units. If you want one of your own then you had better hurry up because it appears that people are already placing deposits on something called the "Ferrari 599 GTO Limited Edition" with deliveries schedule to begin in October of 2010.

Will Ferrari be able to flog their golden boy of F1 fame if they end up quitting the sport? haha I don’t think so. They wont quit! ferrari needs F1, for this exact reason. People buy their frankly awkward looking machines because of this man and that sport! who will be their next pin up boy? I’ll put up my hand if it means i get to crash things!? haha

yeah it’s a beast alright, even the sounds of it’s engine is a music to everyones ears. but i guess a fully tuned Japanese car can keep up with the horses of this GTO.

Really? a limited edition 599 GTO on the go, really gave me the nerves to have a reservation to be included on the exclusive owners of this car. Well I know I can’t put that much money but for the retailers that will consider to buy this exclusive stallion, congrats in advance.

And at least half of these 500 GTO’s are as good as sold. Thoroughbred Pedigree
