Just a few weeks ago, it was rumored that Ferrari was working on a special edition 599 bearing the name of the great Fernando Alonso. That may still be the case, but if that model does come along, it will be paired with the sports car in these new spy shots. Apparently, Ferrari has developed a special lightweight 599XX EVO that was built as part of a private program.

The new 599XX Evo was seen last week when it was showed to a group of select customers at the Ferrari->ke252 Mondiali event inside Ferrari. It was created for Ferrari Corse Clienti (race clients) and made for use only in Ferrari track events. Spy shots reveal an aerodynamic package that includes a large rear wing, a new exhaust package, electronic upgrades, and larger brakes.

As for what this new sports car is packing in terms of power, no information has been provided. We can only assume that it will have a similar setup to the standard 599XX: a 6.3L V12 engine delivering up to 700 HP.

The new Ferrari 599XX Evo will make its official debut in March at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, so stay tuned!
