Last week’s supposed soft opening of the Ferrari World theme park in Abu Dhabi was cancelled at the last minute because of the death of Sheik Saqr bin Mohammed Al-Qasimi, Emir of Ras al-Khaimah. Sensing that the timing wasn’t right to open the theme park, Ferrari World management decided to withhold the opening for another week.

After years of planning, developing, and constructing, the world’s largest indoor theme park finally opened over the weekend without a glitch with the official opening of the theme park happening later this year.

Located at the heart of Yas Island, a ten-minute drive from Abu Dhabi International Airport and about an hour away from the Yas Marina Circuit, Ferrari World is shaping up to become one of Abu Dhabi’s – and the entire UAE for that matter – premier destinations, an impressive feat considering the growing number of tourist destinations in the country.

The theme park will be home to a number of rides and attractions, including the park’s premier attraction, “Formula Rossa”, the world’s fastest rollercoaster capable of traveling at speeds in excess of 150 mph.

Needless to say, the opening of Ferrari World will only bring more tourists to Abu Dhabi and we’re willing to bet that a lot of them will be coming from all corners of the world – us included.
