Small cars, with exterior serious modifications and painted in rich colors is not something new. It’s a fashion that has been around for some years in the US and even Europe. There is quite a simple explanation for this. Small auto vehicles, with small engines have reduced costs and they allow passionate teenagers a way to express their imagination and personality.
Knowing the rich history but also being familiar with the aggressive yet calm design of the car, I can say that Fiat Grande Punto represents the ideal platform for a tuning, influenced from motor sports.
Novitec – a tuner well known for its Fiat and Alfa Romeo projects, steps into the light this year with a full aerodynamic body-kit for Grande Punto.
The front bumper includes two grilled holes that help the intake of the air. The side-skirts and the roof spoiler complete the sporty allure. From the technical point of view Punto has an adjustable sport springs set that can rise and lower the car for 4 to 6 cm. The rims, having the tuner’s name on them are of the size of 18” and they are equipped with 225/35/R18 Pirelli tires. The engine chosen by the German tuner is the 1.9 JTD of 130 horsepower. After having an upgrade in the software and with the help of the better air’s intake system, the car’s performance is now 160 horsepower and a momentum of 328 Nm
I consider this a quite daring project, that has its targets locked on to the younger age. I personally can’t imagine mom driving an orange Fiat Grande Punto custom made by Novitec.
