Fifth Gear brings Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet and Audi R8 Spyder for a German sports car slugfest

Despite being overshadowed by its largely more successful competitor - Top Gear - Fifth Gear still knows a thing or two about grabbing some attention. Having an Audi R8 Spyder race against a Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet in an attempt to see which German wunder car ends up with bragging rights is one way to do it.

In this video, the folks from Fifth Gear are determined to find out how the upstart Audi R8 Spyder measures against the long-reigning king of the 500 horsepower, 100,000-pound car segment.

Comparing the two cars, you wouldn’t be able to find two different super sports cars that are as evenly-matched as these two four-wheeled studs. The R8 Spyder V10 comes in with 525 horsepower whereas the 911 Turbo comes with a "conservative" 500 ponies. However, the 911 does have a couple of advantages to its name, mainly it’s capacity to produce 480 lb/ft of torque at 1,950 rpm compared to the R8’s inferior numbers of just 390 lb/ft of torque at 6,500 rpm.

Will this striking advantage prove to be too much for the R8 Spyder V10 to overcome? Check out the video and find out.

Porsche 911 and Audi R8 are the two best car in the industry! Considering their power output you could actually says that R8 would win. However, let’s do not underestimate the rear engine!

these two guys were very lucky... they got a chance to drive all those new or latest cars available on the market.

Yeah, these two pushed the car to it’s limits.

Well, I think the Porsche’s ratings will be generally considered to be conservative, because the V10 only produces 390 pound-feet of torque with a peak at 6,500 rpm. The turbocharged and direct injected flat-six of the 911 cranks out 480 lb-ft at just 1,950 rpm.

IMO, the level of driving skills of Tiff Niddell is for pro racers. He can do drift and deal with tight corners.

this two guy from fifth gear is really keeps on challenging each other.

There is not doubt that the 911 Turbo will win the bout. Yes they are both great cars, but great cars i meant to be beaten.. yes I’m talking about the GT-R.. both cars has already smoked by the japanese legend.
