Top Gear USA’->ke3704s run with Britain’s finest, the Aston Martin Vantage V8 and V12 was a way for the Americans to get to know what luxury and high-performance British vehicles are like. Now, the proverbial shoe is on the other foot.

Fifth Gear, the British car show that isn’t called ‘Top Gear’ also took to the track to test two all-American muscle cars in the form of the Chevrolet Camaro SS and the Dodge Challenger SRT8. Seeing as the Camaro just made its way into the UK, the show felt that it was the appropriate time to give a test run against one of its most storied rivals, the Challenger SRT8. We actually would’ve loved it if a Ford Mustang->ke428 was involved, but we’ll take what we can get.

Fifth Gear ran the two cars around the track in a comparison test, determining which car would get more bang for the British’s pound. As they soon discovered, the Camaro SS proved to be the clear winner, not only clocking a faster lap time than the Challenger SRT8 – beating it by seven-tenths of a second – but the Camaro also has the edge in price and availability at 30,000 pounds to the Challenger SRT8’s price tag in the UK of 40,000 pounds. Even better for the Camaro is the fact that if any British chap wants a Challenger SRT8, they’re going to need to have to order it from the US, as opposed to Bumblebee, which they can now get on their home soil.
