Fornasari Racing Buggy ready to go into production

  news

Back in May Fornasari announced their plans to build the Racing Buggy concept. Even if everyone expected never to hear another word about the outlandish concept, the Italian automaker has announced that the 610 HP version will go into limited production for a price of around 80,000 euro, but they did not revealed the exact date of the launch.

Fornasari’s most powerful version will be motivated by a Chevrolet sourced 7.0 Liter V8 that makes 610 HP and can make the Buggy sprint from 0 to 60 MPH in under 3.8 seconds.

More information after the jump.

THE RACING BUGGY

Represents the access point to the Fornasari’s world. It has been designed with 2 levels of mechanical; one is more accessible and a little less performance, the other one uses the classic architecture of Fornasari with a tube chassis, overlapped triangle suspensions and a Chevrolet motorization. This is a vehicle particularly studied for a everyday and every conditions use and particularly indicated for the free time thanks to the possibility to be competed open.

For the rest it keeps unchanged the technical information of the RR600 and a big capacity of a off road and relevant performances on road. The wheel base is shorter and the line is particularly aggressive and underline the possibility of a use more uninhibited and less binding then the RR600.

MECHANICAL

The car’s skeleton consists of a special steel piping chassis in molybdenum-chrome that means a real space-frame in a 5 users’ model adaptation. More than 450 pipelines go across in order to obtain stiffness and torsion capability with a weight of less than 150 kg. The suspension triangles are equal on the four sides and they are mechanical jewels, with welding joints like those in Formula 1. The suspensions travel of 240 mm has been studied so as not to affect or change in any extent the geometrical configuration, as it had been set.

THE ENGINE

The heart consists of the latest generation of engines by General Motors’ as reviewed by Fornasari in the U.S. under the specialist Mr. Cottrell. The result is a light but reliable complex all built in aluminium. Sparing of consumption, in compliance with law about gas emissions puts no limits to power exploitation, which comes to be underlined by great values of torque.

From the front profile shot, if you removed the windscreen and roof ars it would look like a warthog.

I was on their website the other day and I actually enjoyed some models, though not all. They have a sort of modern day LM002 feel to them.

With that much power I’d say that this will one of the good bets for the cross country rallies out there. If ever you can find a driver for it. If it wins a race or two, then that could be a great start of people actually choosing this car, if it doesn’t, then it will be just another car that tried to made an impression.

i think Bowler needs to rethink they’re idea of making race only vehicles and put out some real hardcore off-road dedicated street machines like this to compete. this reminds me ALOT of the Bowler Wildcat and Nemesis, only this one comes with 300hp more and has 3 extra seats.
