The U.S. government will be investigating over 1 million Ford vehicles after reports of leaky valve stems. The valve stems, made by a Chinese company, are posing the threat of a sudden loss of tire pressure. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration started the investigation after a reported 37 complaints, 23 of which had more than one bad stem on the vehicle. None have included any crashes or injuries due to the valve stem malfunction.
The vehicles with the valve stems named by NHTSA include the Ford F-150, Mustang, Edge, Fusion, Expedition, Explorer, Focus and Escape, and the Mercury Grand Marquis, MKX, MKZ and Milan.
No recall has been announced yet.
