Honda->ke34 has big plans for this year's Pikes Peak Hill Climb, as the company is shooting for and overall victory, but also wants to set a record for the number of classes entered by a single manufacturer. First details suggest that a total of 10 Honda cars, motorcycles and ATVs will be entering the ultimate hill climb. Last year, the company managed to obtain victories only in the 450 Division and the "Quad Modified" class.

The Pikes Peak, also called "The Race to the Clouds,” is one of the most spectacular motor sports events on Earth: the course covers 12.42 miles, starts at 9,390 feet and ends at 14,110 feet only after tackling 156 turns. The competitors will lose about 30 percent of the engine power due to the thin air at the high-altitude finish line.

This year's Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is scheduled for June 29th through 30th.

Honda at Pikes Peak

Back in 2012, Honda scored victories only in two classes: 450 Division where a 2009 Honda CRF450X ridden by Travis Newbold climbed the hill in 11:06.618 and in the "Quad Modified" class, a 2004 Honda TRX450R ridden by Steve Tutt climbed the hill in 11:40.521. The latter was also a record for the class.

In 2011, the company tackled the hill climb with two entries: a Spec-B rally car based on the Fit hatchback and an off-road racer based on the Pilot crossover, but neither of the two cars have scored great success. Instead, another particular Honda motorcycles and ATVs managed to score again some great results, as a Honda TRX450R won the Quad 450 section, a Honda 450R won the Quad Modified and a Honda 450F won the Super Moto 450.
