The Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge Prototype will make its first ever dynamic appearance at this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed->ke3879. The running prototype, which debuted at the Beijing Auto Show->ke2062 earlier this year, previews a production sedan->ke142 that could pack the exact same engine found in the Nissan GT-R.

Aimed at high-performance sedans->ke142 like the BMW M3 and the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG, the Q50 Eau Rouge could cost as much as $100,000, Infiniti boss Johan de Nysschen revealed earlier this month. With such a hefty sticker attached to its name, it's not at all surprising that Infiniti->ke36 is looking to attract as much attention as possible prior to firing up the assembly line.

And what better venue to do that than the Goodwood Festival of Speed? Sure, the Q50->ke4742 might seem out of context among the classic race cars->ke148 and the modern supercars->ke177 attending the British event, but make no mistake, there's a Nissan GT-R heart pumping under that four-door body.

Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge at Goodwood Festival of Speed

The Q50 Eau Rouge will roar up the Goodwood hill with Infiniti Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner and test driver Sebastian Buemi behind the wheel. The two will take turns in hooning the sedan at full throttle around the short course. The 560 ponies developed by the twin-turbo, V-6 powerplant residing under the front hood should be enough to drive the crowd wild and draw more attention to the beastly sedan. The event is scheduled to take place between June 27th and 29th.

Why It Matters

Showing up at the Goodwood Festival of Speed is an important step in the development of the Q50 Eau Rouge. Infiniti is still gathering feedback from potential customers, and the best way to do that is to allow interested buyers to see the vehicle do what it knows best on a proper race track.

Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge

Named after the infamous corner of the Spa Francorchamps track in Belgium, the Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge was envisioned as a high-performance sedan that blends Nissan GT-R power with, Formula One, luxury, and a comfortable ride.

At first glance, the Eau Rouge sets itself apart from the regular Q50 via its aerodynamic body kit and numerous carbon-fiber components. The concept revealed a unique interior in a body-matching red and black color scheme, aluminum inserts and magnesium alloy shift paddles.

The Eau Rouge’s engine bay will be fitted with the exact same engine found in the Nissan GT-R. Infiniti promises that the twin-turbo 3.8-liter V-6 unit will deliver 560 horsepower and a 0-to-60 sprint of less than four seconds. Although it will get a seven-speed automatic instead of the GT-R’s dual-clutch transmission, the ultra-fast Q50 will retain the supercar’s AWD system.
