The XJ is dead. Long live the XJ!

Jaguar has been making the current XJ since 2003, but the design is an evolution from the first series of the XJ from over 40 years ago. So before this Jaguar becomes a cougar, the Jag has ended the XJ production to switch over to a new car for 2010.

While the XJ's classic looks have always given it distinction, the XF has shown us all that Jaguars can still make sexy from new sheetmetal. We won't at all be surprised if the lines from the XF find their way into the new XJ. One place we're certain to see XF influence is the interior, where elements like the floating dial shifter and motorized air vents are the new Jaguar hallmarks.

The engine lineup shouldn’t be a surprise. The new 5.0-liter V8 will be the main gas engine available, with the 500+ hp supercharged version topping the line for the XJR. There will also be a 3.0-liter twin-turbo diesel V6 making 237 hp and delivering 40 mpg, but that engine has not been confirmed for North America.
