At the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, Kia->ke41 unveiled the GT sports car - a concept rumored to be put into production shortly after its official debut. Still, no details have been offered on the new concept until recently, at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, Benny Oeyen, Kia’s boss of European product planning, confirmed that in the next few years we will see a production version of the GT sports coupe and a new Rio GT.

Talking about the production version Kia GT, Benny Oeyen confirmed it will be a rear-wheel-drive sports coupe, "a little less pure than the Toyota GT86, more of a comfortable cruiser."

He also confirmed that the GT lineup will be expanded with a new Rio GT model that will be powered by a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine that is capable of delivering around 200 horsepower. Still, Kia will limit the output to about 180 horsepower in order to offer a clear hierarchy in its lineup -- the new Rio GT needs to be placed under the C'eed GT, which delivers a total of 210 horsepower.
