The Italian automakers proposed hybrid drive train is not the only special project coming out of the Lamborghini workshop. As Top Speed previously reported, the coachbuilder from Sant' Agatha is preparing a Roadster version of their Reventon supercar.

The super car branch of the Volkswagen Group is also hoping to launch a new model by the end of 2009. The future Lambo’s power plant will be an advanced version of the 640 HP V12 from the Murciélago LP640, meaning more power and better performance than the factory hot rod. The new car will have a shorter wheelbase, making it more nimble; and will be wider for added stability through the turns and be constructed from lots of lightweight composite materials for efficiency. If all this is correct, this promises to be one of the best Lamborghinis ever. Ferrari’s next 450 might want to watch out.
