Lamborghini CEO Confirms New Model for Company's 50th Anniversary

Lamborghini Aventador J

Lamborghini’s 50th anniversary is coming in 2013 and it looks like the company has big plans for this celebration, which we learned a portion of a few months ago. In an interview with Automotive News, Lamborghini CEO, Stephan Winkelmann, confirmed that a new, one-off design will be unveiled to mark this event.

Winkelmann said that this new model won’t be "a revival or retro," but he didn’t give us any more details. So, this new model won’t be the replacement for the current Gallardo , but we should expect something like the Aventador J that was unveiled at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show.

Next to the unveiling of this special edition model, Lamborghini will also mark the celebration of its 50th anniversary with a series of special celebrations. One will be a "Grande Giro Lamborghini" set to be held on May 2013 where owners from all over the world have been invited to participate. The cars will travel from through Tuscany, Rome, Bologna and finally to the Lamborghini factory at Sant’Agata Bolognese. Lamborghini also announced that every dealer in the world will have a smaller-scale event.

it is a hyper-car that is inspired by fighter planes, goes like hell and is very rare! oh, and it is extremely great! good enough description?

brad, take a look at the reventon! if that is not a super-car that matches or even beats the F60, than i don’t know what it is!

as good the lambo’s are, i think it will be hard for them to make a car to match the enzo.

for celebrating ferrari had the F40, F50, F60 (enzo). i guess lambo will have a model to match those!

alex is right. the gallardo is great, but it is the less powerful car lambo has to offer. so that is not a celebration car!

i do not thin it will be the replacement for the gallardo. they must make something special, one-off, extraordinary!

brad has a point! we’ll just have to wait and see!

but hey, they discontinued the murciellago and now we have the aventador. so no revival there!

they just said it will not be a replacement for the gallardo. pay attention!

midocar is right. maybe they will make a new model to replace the old gallardo!

if the model will not be a revival or a retro that means it has to be a new one!

i wonder if all the participants to the "grande giro" will fit at the factory. i somehow doubt that!

50 years of lambo is something that’s worth celebrating!
