Land Rover will add a new model to its line-up starting 2012: a new seven-seat model based on the Freelander platform. Internally known as the "Project L486", it will have unique bodywork, styling and interior to mark it out as being more than a Freelander variant.

The engines will be shared with the Freelander, meaning a 2.0-litre and 2.2-litre diesels with a choice of manual, automatic and twin-clutch transmissions.

The design will be a mix between the Freelander and forthcoming LRX.
