The Porsche Roxster small SUV has been a long-dead half-rumor, but that doesn’t mean lessons learned cannot be applied. The current Porsche Cayenne weighs in at about two tons, and we have suspected for a while that the portly proportions doesn’t sit too well with Porsche, especially as SUVs become less fashionable. That’s why rumors of a lighter second-generation Cayenne are going around.
The diet should consist of aluminum for most body panels. So while the wheelbase may grow by a couple of inches, the fuel economy still should be better than the current model. Another element to keep the MPGs higher will be the continuation of the diesel model (not available in North America) and the addition of a gas/electric hybrid.
