Until now there has been quite a bit of rumors about a future Cadillac CTS-V coupe, now it is official: Bob Lutz confirmed that the company is indeed preparing a coupe version of the high performance CTS-V, although CTS-V wagon hopefuls will have to wait for a future update. "As of now, the V package is planned only for the sedan and coupe." As for more CTS-V models – specifically a Sport Wagon variant – Lutz said, "... should sufficient demand materialize, there is no reason why we couldn’t do a V-Series wagon, and I would be standing in line for one, just ahead of you." The CTS-V is powered by a 6.2L LSA supercharged V8 engine that will deliver 500 HP and allow the Cadillac to become a serious competitor with other factory tuned machines like the BMW M3 Coupe. .
9 comments: Lutz confirms Cadillac CTS-V coupe Uncia (867) Posted on 07.23.2009 jtm0711, Although price is a big factor and the CTS-V is much less expensive than an M5, it is also around $10,000 more than an M3. Therefore it competes with the M5 and not the M3 in price as well because people who consider $80,000 M5s could also afford a $60,000 CTS-V, but not everyone who can afford a $50,000 M3 can afford a $60,000 CTS-V. BMWM6 (488) Posted on 07.22.2009 i understand what all of you are saying here but what I am trying to say is the CTSV already competes with the M5 for particular reasons so It would make more sense for the coupe to compete with the M6 rather than the M3 coupe because it already Competes with the M5 coupe and the M6 is the cuope counterpart to the M5
jtm0711 (233) Posted on 07.22.2009 yea the size and power rating makes it a direct competitor to the m5 and m6 but the price is the biggest thing. i mean you wouldn’t say that a vette should compete with ferraris cus the power rating is similar... price is a huge factor when deciding competition
Uncia (867) Posted on 07.20.2009 BMWM6 is right. Although closer in price to the M3, the CTS-V competes against the M5/M6 because the Cadillac is much more similar in both size and in spirit to the M5, as they are both the largest and most extreme performance cars of their respective companies.
jtm0711 (233) Posted on 07.20.2009 you have to take into account that the cts-v costs about half as much as the m5 or m6. thats why it competes with the m3
BMWM6 (488) Posted on 07.15.2009 what so the coupe competes against the M3 and the sedan competes against the m5 thats stupid and not fair I understand why Nissan competes the GTR against the M3 but this I cant understand this should compete against the M6 Cadillac = 500 hp M6= 507 hp M3= 414 hp GTR=480 hp
