A little more than a year has passed since McLaren->ke284 unveiled the P1 supercar, and the Woking-based manufacturer is already busy rolling out a brand new sports car. We're obviously referring to the 2015 650S, a vehicle that gathered so many orders the past few weeks it prompted McLaren to halt production of the 12C.

With the 650S in production and its Spider sibling revealed at the Geneva Motor Show last month, the British are already looking toward adding a new model to their new family of V-8-powered supercars->ke177. What are they preparing now, you may ask? Well, a recent report claims the Brits are readying a track-tuned version of the 650S.

That's the word from McLaren chief development driver Chris Goodwin, who says the newly-launched 650S "is not as far as we're going to go." "There's plenty more we can do," he added, hinting that the yet unnamed track-prepped 650S will be aimed at the 12 percent of McLaren customers that hoon their cars on race courses.

There are no actual details for us to chew on right now, but Auto Express suggests that the upcoming sports car->ke506 is likely to cost £25,000 more than the regular 650S, which translates into a premium of nearly $42,000 at the current exchange rates.

McLaren 650S

With 640 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque at its disposal, the 2015 McLaren 650S is the company's most powerful supercar, with exception of the range-topping P1. The vehicle is powered by a de-tuned version of the 3.8-liter V-8 found under the P1's hood, which enables it to accelerate from naught to 60 mph in just three seconds and reach a top speed of 204 mph.

Once it hits the market, the 650S is set to take on the likes of the Ferrari 458 Speciale and the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Squadra Corse.
