The McLaren MP4-12C made quite an impact at its official launch back in 2009. People all over were very impressed with the vehicle and success seemed to be a sure thing, but we don’t know if anyone - including McLaren themselves - anticipated to see the supercar sell out so quickly. According to Ian Gorsuch, Regional Director of McLaren Automotive, the launch of the MP4-12C on the Chinese market will have to be delayed until 2013 because the company does not have enough cars. In fact, the MP4-12C is sold out for the next three years Initial plans were to produce 1,000 units a year, but Gorsuch says this number may go up slightly depending on circumstances. In the same breath, however, Gorsuch added: "We want to produce less cars than the competition. The key is making the dealership profitable. We will produce less cars but the dealers must have more cars than the competition because the long-term goal is profitability." The MP4-12C is powered by a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that produces 592 HP at 7,000rpm and 443 lb-ft. of torque between 3,000 and 7,000rpm. It will reach 60mph in 3.3 seconds and can hit a top speed of 205. The first customers will receive their cars in December 2011, but if you haven’t placed your order yet then don;t expect to get one for another three years. .
13 comments: McLaren MP4-12C sold out for the next 3 years That was a good prediction on their part. I know that it’ll be sold out for less than two years. Let me guess, are they’re going to release it to a limited number of units only?
 I agree that this car has an amazing performance and design as well. However, its exterior seems to be very simple for I haven’t seen any spoiler here.
 Impressive! The look of the 12C just got better! The styling in the exterior is great as well as the performance. Its seems very perfect with its high speed performance. However, I was hoping that they will removed the top speed of the vehicle.
 Each year, car companies have their own situation wherein they have to reduce the amount of units in the production. We already knew it, and yet, it is very admiring to know that certain companies have taken their own risk and continue to produce quality cars in the future.
 Well, there’s really nothing to worry about that one. From what I have heard, McLaren is actually releasing 13 models in succession, that would certainly get fans excited.
 This is definitely one of those super cars that I really love the most. I like how they made this one very simple looking, yet aggressive in performance. Too bad that it’s already sold out.
 That one was actually rather fast, I thought that this would be available up until early next year. Well, too bad for the many Chinese gearheads, they will have to wait for a while for the new batch.
 No wonder why cars like this are easily sold out. Just by its outer design plus its performance, people that has enough money won’t hesitate to have one.
 The car performs no where near the hyps. So why all the sales? Well they are selling to phonies who buy it just for the name. People that don’t know jack about sports cars. You can’t even turn off the traction control.
