Meister Watches Signs Partnership with Formula Drift; One Watch can be Yours

Meister Watches and Formula Drift have announced a partnership that makes the former the official timekeeper of the professional drifting competition. Considering how similar both companies are in their market base, the tie-up between the two sides can be described as a match made in urban drift heaven.

Apart from MSTR serving as the official timekeeper for Formula Drift, the partnership between the two companies also includes the production of a limited-edition watch to commemorate Formula Drift’s 10th anniversary. Turns out, when you’ve established a reputation as the premier drift competition in the world, the opportunity to partner with a watchmaker known for its urban street-wear image was too good to pass up.

The said limited-edition watch is based on MSTR’s popular Mark-2 Ambassador line. It’s specially created specifically for the occasion of Formula Drift’s 10th year anniversary so unique details like a full 316L stainless-steel case and a textured rubber band are part of its details. To add more separation to the standard Ambassador, the limited edition watch will also carry Formula Drift’s signature red and black colors to go with touches of high-performance, carbon-fiber and a signature red ring circling its race-inspired dial face.

Only 300 pieces of this timepiece will be created, each individually numbered and carrying a price of $275.00 on the MSTR website.

Formula Drift is considered as the premier U.S. drifiting series since it was founded in 2003 by Jim Liaw and Ryan Sage. In the 11 years that it has been in existence, Formula Drift has grown to become the preeminent North American professional drifting championship series, boasting of over 60 licensed drivers.

Among the most popular names that have competed in Formula Drift include Rhys Millen , Tanner Foust, Vaughn Gittin Jr. , and current driver’s champion, Michael Essa.

In its latest configuration, a Formula Drift season consists of a seven round championship played out at race tracks across the United States. Judged on execution and style, rather than who finishes the course in the fastest time, Formula Drift brings together elements of traditional racing and extreme sports into one package, entrenching itself as a draw for fans of both disciplines.

Meister Watches announced today they are now the official timekeeper for professional drifting competition, Formula Drift. To honor the partnership, MSTR and Formula Drift created a limited edition watch to gift winning drivers, commemorate the Formula Drift 10 Year Anniversary, and give away to fan contestants at each of the 7-event championship series.

This special Mark-2 Ambassador boasts a full 316L stainless steel case and a textured rubber band. Sporting Formula Drift’s signature red and black colorway, the piece features high performance carbon fiber and a signature red ring circling its race-inspired dial face. The watch is water resistant to 100 meters and has Japanese 6-hand chronograph movement. Each watch will be individually numbered to 300, and will retail for $275.00 on the MSTR website.

One watch will be awarded to the 1st place Formula Drift driver, and one to a winning fan contestant at each event.
