The Mercedes SLS AMG will make its official debut this coming September at the Frankfurt Motor Show, with sales to begin shortly after at a price of around $255,000.
The SLS AMG will be powered by a hand built 6.2 liter hand built AMG V8 engine that puts out a total of 571 HP, this is over 50 HP more than the AMG CL63, a high performance luxury model that shares the same engine design. The SLS will weigh in at just under 3575 pounds, meaning that every horse has to push around about 6.25 pounds of gull wing, this allows the super car to accelerate from 0 to 60 MPH in only 3.8 seconds on its way to a top speed of 195 MPH.
Just like the McLaren SLR stole the hearts of the well to do from around the globe and became a must have item in every celebrity’s garage, when the modern gull wing goes on sale it to will become an instant classic. For a little more than a quarter of a million dollars, Mercedes Benz should have no problem moving as many of these SLS super cars as they can produce.
