It’s 12:00 am on Tuesday (today) at the Virgin Megastore in Hollywood, CA, and a crowd of locals has shown up to rock out to celebrate the release of Midnight Club: Los Angeles (Midnight Club LA released at midnight in Hollywood, get it.) We got a preview of the game last month, and it was realistic enough that I actually made the run from my hotel to the Virgin Megastore on my PS3 before doing the run in real-life.
The band Eagles of Death Metal showed up to help kick off the game. Their middle-metal 80s rock/blues infusion style was exactly the right band to launch Rockstar Games latest installment of the race-what-you-bring game. If their CD is playing in your car, you’re going to be speeding (plus their song “Wanna be in L.A.” is featured in the game.)
So how does this all affect you? It doesn’t. You were asleep while Rockstar Games was acting like, well, rock stars. But it does mean that Midnight Club LA is in stores now. Just remember, you will need to put the game down occasionally and get out of the house. True rock stars actually go out at night.
