Opel will expand the current Astra range with a new coupe version set to be launched at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. It will join the current five-door model and the just launched Astra Sports Tourer. The future coupe version will come with a separate, more radical design.

It will feature a wider track, a filigree roof structure with a narrow C-pillar, more pronounced rear wheel arches, and the windscreen will be extended from a large glass roof up to a B-pillar.

Under the hood there will be the same engine line-up as in the five-door version: a 1.4-liter turbo, a 1.6-liter, 2.0 gasoline engine, and a 1.7-liter turbo-diesel. Opel will also offer a GSI version that will deliver around 210 HP and will compete with models like Volkswagen Golf GTI. An OPC version will get a 2-liter turbo four-cylinder producing 240 hp that will be launched at a later date. The sprint from 0 to 60 mph will be made in the 8 second area and the top speed will be somewhere around 150 mph.
