New Cayenne coming in 2010

What is wrong with Porsche and Volkswagen? They keep on creating SUVs that compete against each other for sales. And they will continue doing this with next generation Cayenne and Touareg, both coming in 2010.

The two companies are building the large SUVs in close cooperation. But, in the same time both models being launched in the same time puts Volkswagen sales in big disadvantage.

"We aren’t at all pleased with a significantly longer model life for the current Touareg compared to the Cayenne," a high-ranking VW executive told Automobilwoche. "After all, the vehicles are in competition with one another."

Porsche also agrees this won’t be good for either company: "If we can’t come to an agreement at the level of the working teams, the CEOs will have to hammer this out."
