Next Ferrari F70 Will Feature Advanced Carbon Composites

New Images of the Future Ferrari F70

Ferrari decided it is not ready to bring the F70 to the Detroit Auto Show, but we have to admit that all the new details we have learned today make us believe it will be worth the wait anyway. According to British magazine AutoCar, the Enzo successor will feature a sophisticated carbon-fiber construction and will take "the driving experience even closer the fabled idea of a Formula 1 car for the road."

The car’s advanced construction has been inspired by the 2,200-pound Millechili technical concept unveiled back in 2007 and has been built around a compact central carbon-fiber monocoque that weighs just 150 pounds.

Ferrari has used four types of carbon fiber in developing this supercar, including one used in nuclear reactor construction. This will offer the car about 27-percent more torsional rigidity than the Enzo, but will also make it much more expensive at roughly £800,000 - or about $1,270,000 at the current exchange rates.

When speaking with AutoCar, F1 designer Rory Byrne said: "We can use different forms of carbon fiber according to the loads on areas of the chassis, ensuring strength where we need it but never more than we need. We have evaluated what the requirements are for each part of the car — weight saving, high stiffness and so on — and been able to apply different types of carbon fiber accordingly. No other car manufacturer has been able to do this.”

all good things are expensive and exclusive. and you have to wait for them too.

i am sure that some of the cars have already been sold.

a ferrari has to be expensive, exotic and long awaited!

what did you guys expect? the new ferrari top hyper car to be launched immediately and to cost 50.000$?

any good performance car requires extensive development. ferrari aims to be the best, so it has to innovate constantly.

and the fact that the wait is motivated by innovation is even better.

a car like this is worth the wait!

the 1.270.000$ price will not scare the ferrari lovers. it’s not like other hyper cars are cheap either!

you got that right john. but that has not always been the case.

isn’t that the point of having a new version of a car? to make it better ?

the f70 will be a worthy successor for the enzo.

i have to appreciate the technicality of ferrari engineers.
