Mercedes is currently testing the next generation S-Class that will be unveiled at the end of the year. Codenamed the W222, the next S-Class will be inspired by the F700 Concept unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show. What we know for sure is that the next S-Class will get blacked-out headlamps, a dummy front grille, and a new front bumper. Under the hood there will be a revised range of V6 and V8 engines. The base version will get a V6 engine with stop-start technology and revised direct injection that improves fuel economy. The top version will get a 4.6 liter V8 engine (down from the current 5.4 liter version) that delivers 429 HP and offers improved fuel economy. The diesel line-up will include a new base version called the S250 CDI and is powered by a 2.1 liter four-cylinder engine with 204 HP. Also, the next S-class is believed to be the first model to use Mercedes’ radical Diesotto powerplant. The system was introduced in the F700 concept and it is in fact a four-cylinder with a displacement of only 1.8 liters, combining the strong points of the low-emission gasoline engine with the consumption benefits of the diesel drive. .

benjie_klien (179) Posted on 06.28.2010 Well, as my expression! this particular mule is draped in a hot mess of panels, shrouds and rubber bunting, and Ohh! the side sills are even missing.
eddie_long (435) Posted on 06.28.2010 What? A 4 cylinder for Mercedes S-Class? Dang! Its engine should be designed well for it to move the bulky chassis of the S-Class. but for sure they are going to play with a Turbo with this.
joey_santana (329) Posted on 06.27.2010 Beautiful. Good thing that they also think of the fuel consumption of their cars. v6 and v8 is a good.
