Nissan updates 2010 GT-R ECU in U.S. - trying to retroactively kill Launch Control

We already knew that the Nissan GT-R’s "Launch Control" system had stalled, and that it would not be around for the 2010 model year. So for the next round of GT-Rs, Nissan plans to updates the sportscar’s engine control unit (ECU) so that acceleration times are improved with the Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) system is engaged.

This same reprogramming will also disable the Launch Control feature. Any car 2009 cars still on Nissan dealer lots will have this change made as well. Cars that already have the Launch Control feature are encouraged to go to the dealer for the reprogramming. Nissan isn’t forcing any hands, but it failure to reprogram may cause future problems with the supercar’s warranty.
