On Friday Nissan Nort America asked dealers to stop selling 2006 four-cylinder Nissan Altimas and Sentra SE-Rs because of some reports of engine fires. It seems that there is one minor injury and it was investigating the cause of excessive oil consumption in the cars' engines.

Apparently the 100000 vehicles built between January 2006 and May may be subject to the problem. The brand received 215 reports of the vehicles' engines burning through their oil quickly and 17 engine fires.

Nissan has told that the owners should contact their dealers (in case of any problems) and check their oil every 700 miles, so if the engine's oil level is kept at a proper level, it should not suffer any damage.
