Top Speed has already reported that Opel will bring back the Calibra name. This European vehicle will compete with models like the Volkswagen Scirocco, and just like the new sky rocket, will not be offered in the U.S. market. Well, AutoExpress shed a little more light on the subject and are adding a few more details about the new Opel.

The German car builder will sell this new design as a coupe version of the new Insignia model starting 2012. The vehicle’s design is inspired by the Opel GTC concept. Under the hood Opel will place the same turbocharged 2.8 Liter V6 found in the new Insignia OPC. This means the Insignia Coupe will have an output of around 350 HP, capable of sprinting from 0 to 60 MPH in under 6 seconds and have a top speed limited to 155 MPH.

The future Opel will share most of what you can’t see from the outside with the Insignia, but will feature a modified suspension and a refined four wheel drive system. Besides this new Insignia Coupe, Opel plans on bringing a compact cabriolet to market. The vehicle will be based on the Corsa and will replace the now defunct Tigra model.
