As we reported last week, Pontiac will add a new model to its line-up. Called the G8, it will be based on the Holden Commodore VE SS and will come to replae the Pontiac Grand Prix. It will debut in February at the Chicago Auto Show.

According to Automotive News, the G8 will arrive in 2008 with front-end styling drawn from the Pontiac Solstice. The new car likely would have unique sheet metal from the A-pillar forward.

The G8 comes from the same global Zeta development program as the Chevrolet Camaro sports coupe and convertible.
