After Porsche unveiled the four-door Panamera->ke1840, it was inevitable that rumors would begin flying. The latest rumor frenzy (although it was hinted at back in 2006) suggests that the company is also preparing a two-door model, known as the Panamera GT.

The new model will allow Porsche to return to the market of large front-engine GT coupes, abandoned in 1995 when the 928->ke928 was dropped with no replacement to follow in its footsteps.

The original 928 was designed to replace the 911, but history had other plans for it. The 911 proved evergreen, which gave the 928 an awkward and doomed place in Porsche’s lineup. This time if the 928 comes back, it will be for 911 owners who need more room, and will serve as a direct competitor to the more luxurious sportscars like the Bentley Continental GT->ke401.
