Depending on who you ask, Gran Turismo 6 or Forza 5 hold the throne as the world's best car video game->ke2888, but don't sleep on one developer who's pining to take that seat from both titles. And that could happen as soon as this year.

Slightly Mad Studios, the people behind Need for Speed: Shift and Shift 2: Unleashed->ke3700, has released a slew of production images for its latest video game title, Project Cars.

You read that right: those are in-game screenshots from the video game, not real-life images. Clearly, that's a whole new level of graphics awesomeness we didn't think existed to begin with. What's more, these screenshots are actually from its PC platform, so you can expect something similar, or maybe even better, for the PS4 and XBox One platforms.

Again. Wow.

Slightly Mad Studios also mentioned that the screenshots didn't have any post-processing work done on them, nor did they go under any image alterations. What you see are a slew of cars, ranging from exotics->ke177 to race cars, all boasting of graphics that are so incredibly real, it would've been easy to confuse them with actual images of the said vehicles.

The graphics is beyond incredible so the obvious question now is if the gameplay can match it. We'll find out this coming fall when Project Cars drops for PC, Xbox->ke3732 One, PlayStation 4->ke4615, Wii U and Steam OS.

Project Cars

It's being billed as the Ultimate Driver Journey, which begs the question as to how in-depth Project Cars is as a video game. Among its features include a Franchise Mode that allows players to build a racing career beginning in the Karting world and then moving on to whichever motorsports specialization you prefer including Rally, Touring Cars, Open-Wheel, GT, Le Mans.

There's also a Full Team Management feature, which allows players to play with friends and as the mode suggests, manage a team together. Likewise, the User-Generated Content feature allows players to create their own liveries, decals, tuning setups, and events - and then share them with the world - either for free, in-game credits or even real money.

Such is the breadth of depth Project Cars promises to have. Now all they have to is deliver on those promises.
