AZ Power and Sound has joined Racing for the Children to enter their non-factory backed 2004 Pontiac GTO into the 2006 Tire Rack Cannonball One Lap of America presented by Car and Driver Magazine with Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire, LLC (BFNT) as their title sponsor.

Racing for the Children was formed by Enrique Ramirez in 1999 to raise money and awareness for the Save the Children organization. Save the Children works to create real and lasting change in the lives of children in need. The organization is a nonprofit, nonpolitical, nonsectarian organization working in more than 35 nations, including the Unites States.

This year will be the 23rd running of the One Lap of America, which is an annual event created by Brock Yates of Car and Driver Magazine. Participants must drive their street legal vehicles from track to track where they compete in time trial competitions, drag races, and to keep things interesting, wet and dry skid pad events. This year's One Lap will take eight days, May 6 through May 13, 2006, and cover 4,000 miles through 18 states with stops in nine.

"We get a lot more satisfaction out of our efforts knowing we are racing for such a worthy cause," said Ramirez, "after all, the children are our future." Racing for the Children is extremely happy to have AZ Power and Sound, Bridgestone, Midwest Performance Development, Hospice Family Care, Inc, TCE Performance Products, Wilwood, Koni, Auto Europe, and many other individuals supporting their cause.

AZ Power and Sound is Arizona's premier GTO tuner and specializes in the sale and installation of race proven bolt-on competition components that provide the ultimate in performance, handling, and appearance. They have over 10 years of experience tuning and building high performance street and track cars.

Enrique Ramirez will be sharing track driving duties with Al Sickinger, while their third team member, Chip Habitz, will provide assistance with the transit sections.
