Re-live Subaru's press conference at the 2010 New York Auto Show

Subaru was quite a busy brand at the New York Auto Show, showing off their sales figures for 2009 and proudly announcing that the brand has rebounded quite strongly from the global financial crisis of 2008. But while these are all fascinating to us, the real highlight of the Subaru press conference was the unveiling of the 2011 WRX STI , a car that we’ve been pining for release for quite some time now.

Subaru of America’s Director of Corporate Communications, Michael McHale and Executive Vice President and COO of Subaru of America Thomas Doll both took the stage to personally unveil the new 2011 Subaru WRX STI.

Most of the press conference will talk about the awesomeness that is Subaru so if you’d like to skip that part and head over straight to the reveal of the 2011 WRX STI, we suggest you fast forward to the 3:38 mark of the part 2 of the press conference where Mr. Doll himself gives us the rundown of the highly-anticipated car before pulling off the covers at the 7:45 mark.

Like the 2010 Legacy sedan, the base-model Outback is powered by a 2.5-liter flat-4 that makes 170 hp and 170 pound-feet of torque.

The six-cylinder version of the Legacy also gets a boost. In place of the 3.0-liter horizontally opposed six, the 2010 Legacy will offer a 3.6-liter six that raps out 11 hp more and 32 lb-ft torque more than the 3.0-liter motor.

What a teasing movie from subaru. I bet many competitors are now getting jealous with it.

Seeing way too many versions of this car and want it to get over it. Maybe they need another model.

Sweet WRX. I really have been a fan of it for quite some time now but I still have to wait till someone makes a comparison between that car, a car from Ford (focus perhaps?), Nissan GT-R or 350 z, and of course the Evo from mitsubishi. That oughta be a cool comparison.

Impreza STI has become an Icon in WRC with that subaru became well know car automaker. I bet the subaru is really making bringing the Impreza to it’s perfection.
