The Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California played host to the Redline Time Attack event over the weekend, and by all accounts, it was a pretty exhilirating racing weekend for both participants and spectators alike.

Over 92 cars came out for this RTA, making this event the one with the largest turnout of any RTA weekend this season. One of the highlights of the entire event was the Super Session, the RTA's five-lap race that's open for any car that meets the event's safety requirements. Despite the pretty short race, the Super Session featured tons of action with an abundance of scintillating overtaking and wheel-to-wheel racing. The cars may not have the legs of Formula One race cars, but in terms of pure, unadulterated racing, the Super Session had so much of it and more.

In addition to the Super Session, last weekend's RTA also featured its very first Showcase car show, a collection of some of the weekend's most finely-machines. Given the pretty short lead-up time to promote the car show - only two weeks were given to spread the word out - organizers were surprised to see that over 100 cars still made it to the show, a number that was supposedly well out-of-reach for the event. The surprising success of the Showcase car show relative to the time that was given to prepare for it has the folks from RTA feeling optimistic and confident that the next time around, shooting for 300 car participants for the Showcase car show wouldn't that much of a stretch.

The entire event was successful on so many levels its hard for us to miss out the next Redline Time Attack event at the Willow Springs International Raceway in Rosamund, California on July 2-4. So if you happen to be in the area during Independence Day weekend, you're going to be hard-pressed to find a more exciting holiday racing experience than the one that will take place in the area courtesy of Redline Time Attack.
