Renault Nissan Alliance made an official partnership with the Government of Portugal in order find the right path towards the citizens across the country and convince them about the benefits of using zero-emission electric cars. The automaker will make a research meant to make the electric vehicle attractive for the Portuguese consumers and also to promote the concept.

The group is considering a first mass launch of electric vehicles in 2011 and Portugal is one of the lead global markets for Alliance’s EVs. “Portugal has become a leading country in renewable energy.” said Portugal’s Prime Minister José Sócrates. “With the rising cost of oil and continuing concerns about C02 emissions, we believe the ultimate solution to sustainable mobility will be the mass availability of zero-emission vehicles,” said Renault-Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn.
