The car will be released on a Concept form in Frankfurt and a production version will follow next year at the Paris Auto Show.
The Laguna Coupe is inspired by the 2004 Fluence Concept and will feature a teardrop-shaped rear with a pinched bootlid. Hopefully this is a return to form for Renault design; after cars like the Avantime, the French manufacturer has played it far too safe with recent offerings like the mundane Twingo and conservative new Laguna.
It’s basically a fastback Laguna, and the engines on offer include turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engines with 168bhp and 148bhp, rising to a 240bhp all-new 3.0-litre diesel - and the 3.5-litre V6 petrol from the Nissan 350Z. The pricing will be around £20k.
