Renault Laguna Coupe coming at Frankfurt Motor Show

Renault will launch a Coupe version of its Laguna model at the Frankfurt Motor Show. There are no news about the model yet, and Renault says it won’t release any info about it until September, but Car Magazine has put its hands on the the only shot of the car.

The car will be released on a Concept form in Frankfurt and a production version will follow next year at the Paris Auto Show.

The Laguna Coupe is inspired by the 2004 Fluence Concept and will feature a teardrop-shaped rear with a pinched bootlid. Hopefully this is a return to form for Renault design; after cars like the Avantime, the French manufacturer has played it far too safe with recent offerings like the mundane Twingo and conservative new Laguna.

It’s basically a fastback Laguna, and the engines on offer include turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engines with 168bhp and 148bhp, rising to a 240bhp all-new 3.0-litre diesel - and the 3.5-litre V6 petrol from the Nissan 350Z. The pricing will be around £20k.

I really can’t wait to see the new Laguna III Coupe! And the 3.5 litre from the 350z! Thats awesome power! I hope the Hatch and Sport Tourer have the 3.5 too. But they really suprized me with all the luxurious features inside! I hope the Coupe won’t fail to impress (I’m sure it won’t though). Too bad it’ll only arrive in Australia NEXT YEAR! I’m also annoyed there is no Vel satis in Aus or even this website! It’s so cool and different!!!
