Roush Mustang JDM Drag car makes the quarter mile in 9.9s; 9.6s to follow

  news

When anyone thinks of turning their Mustang into a perfect combination of street car and race car, they probably hit up the Roush website for any new technologies the company may have brought out. After all, Roush Performance is, without a doubt, a leader in Mustang conversions and their supercharger system, the ROUSHcharger, is the epitome of performance. Anyone would be crazy not to want a piece of that.

Back in August, Roush announced a new supercharger kit for the 2011 Ford Mustang 5.0 that took the engine’s power from 412 HP to a monstrous 550 HP. Seeing an opportunity before him, Jim D’Amore III at JDM Engineering took that supercharger and ran with it in the NMRA Drag Racing competition this season in a 2011 ROUSH Mustang, eventually snatching up the win in the Super Stang championship. Thanks to the tremendous power generated from the ROUSHcharger kit, the car has already been in the 9.9-second range at 138 mph.

D’Amore reported that this was on 17 pounds of boost, but wanted to keep the car slower than 10.0-seconds for the race season (the legal limit for the roll cage). Since then, they have installed a larger balancer pulley creating 20 psi of boost and have picked up another 40 HP and are now running with an excess of 700 HP under the hood. The team’s prediction is that the car should soon be running in the 9.65-second range at 140 mph.

Looking at this car I would say that this is just a lame production. However, what’s interesting was on its under the hood. 700 hp is quite an powerful engine. BTW, I wonder of this car still has a difficulty on its corner?

Wow! This race just proved that Mustang really evolve during the past decades! The speed performance of this car is great and I’m glad to see on how far this car can go!

The specification of Roush Mustang  is quite impressive and the engine produces an output of 500 hp! Well, I think that figure is too much for a Mustang.

haha. I think whoever expect the Mustang to be fast is kind of crazy!  I think they shouldn’t made such expectation on the old dude. Even if its timeless I have to admit its engine is kind of outdated.

Wow that’s nice! I didn’t know that Mustang can still race. I have read bad reviews about Mustang, saying that its better if it would be killed. But here it is, a proof that Mustang is timeless and a living legend.

Shipping weight of a standard Roush coupe is 3316?No way in hell, unless this is some kinda stripped out drag pack, but no where in the article does it say that.

Hard to imagine anything more boring than ANY Mustang. It was a great innovation in 1965, but has been on the decline ever since. At one point, the Mustang was even built from a Ford Pinto chassis—a wretched thing if there ever was one.

You never get tired of saying how stupid they are, so why would you think that the people who like the cars would get tired of reading about them?
