Mercedes-Benz S-Class and Viano hold their value better than any other vehicle in their respective segments

  •  Eurotax-Schwacke calculates depreciation after three years
  •  Viano and S-Class boast highest resale values
In the latest Schwacke Automobile Forecast Index (F-SAX) – published twice a year – the Mercedes-Benz S-Class is the top luxury car whilst the Mercedes-Benz Viano leads the field in the MPV category.

The F-SAX looks at models with the same mileage, comparable engine outputs and similar equipment in each vehicle category. The depreciation forecast, calculated in euros, takes into account the development of residual values in the German car market.

According to the index, the Viano MPV has a residual value of 58% after three years, while the S-Class luxury saloon retains 52.7% of its value after the same period. Both scores are the best in the respective vehicle categories.

This is actually incomparable. You can check its market value, a valid reason why it was being called as the top luxury car for Mercedes Benz S Class series.

The S-Class has been the standard escape vehicle for the world’s elite for generations.

How do thoese things handle a crash? The doors have steel plates in them, windows bullet proof. Kinda defeats the purpose of a crumple zone.

Depreciation, that would be a great reason for all of this.
