Jimi Heselden, the British millionaire who bought the Segway company from its American inventor, Dean Kamen, earlier this year, was killed last weekend after the Segway he was driving fell off a cliff down into a river near his home in West Workshire, UK.

Surreal as it sounds, it’s also true. A call was placed to the West Yorkshire Police reporting of an incident where a man fell off a cliff straight into the River Wharfe. Police immediately went to the site and recovered a two-wheeled vehicle – possibly a Segway – with the 62-year old Heselden being pronounced dead at the scene.

There’s no word on how it happened, but the police don't believe there was any foul play involved. “At this time we do not believe the death to be suspicious," according to a statement released by the police department.

We can’t possibly fathom how difficult it must be for the family of Jimi Heselden. We send our deepest condolences to the family for Mr. Heselden’s unfortunate passing.
