Sheryl Crow shows off her greener side with BlueTEC

Posted on by 5

You may be familiar with the musician Sheryl Crow; but did you know that she and a group of other celebrities are doing their part to conserve the Earth’s natural resources and lower their negative impact on the environment? With the help of her Mercedes Benz R320 BlueTEC the singer songwriter believes that “the newest clean diesel vehicles are eco-friendly and deserve as much attention as other gas alternatives like hybrids.”

These next generation diesel vehicles are extremely quiet, unlike the traditional clackers that you can hear from a mile away. These new diesels are cleaner and have an extremely efficient range of over 500 miles from a single fill up. The best part is that they qualify for similar IRS alternative power train tax credits just like their gas electric hybrid cousins.

What is most shocking is that the EPA estimates that the U.S. is capable of conserving 1.4 million barrels of oil per day, if only one third of the light duty automobiles on the road were state of the art clean diesels, utilizing technology like the Mercedes BlueTEC vehicles.

Press release after the jump.

HOLLYWOOD SHOWS GREEN AND SAVES GREEN WITH MERCEDES-BENZ BLUETEC CLEAN DIESEL SUVS

Mercedes R 320 BlueTEC, ML 320 BlueTEC and GL 320 BlueTEC

Singer, musician, songwriter and environmental supporter, Sheryl Crow, is part of a growing group of well-known musicians and actors who are passionate about the benefits of Mercedes-Benz BlueTEC clean diesel vehicles. Her Mercedes-Benz R320 BlueTEC is one of today’s modern diesel vehicles that are extremely quiet, environmentally clean, and can achieve a range of 500 miles on a single tank of diesel fuel.

“The newest clean diesel vehicles are eco-friendly and deserve as much attention as other gas alternatives like hybrids,” said Crow.
A benefit of driving a green car like a Mercedes-Benz BlueTEC beyond not sacrificing space or luxury is the IRS alternative-powertrain tax credit. Owners of new clean diesel vehicles are eligible for the same tax credit as hybrids. The current Diesel Tax Credits for owners of a 2009 Mercedes-Benz BlueTEC are $1,800 for the GL320; $1,550 for the R320; and $900 for the ML320.

According to the EPA, the nation would save 1.4 million barrels of oil a day if just one third of all light-duty vehicles in the USA were state-of-the-art diesel vehicles. The Mercedes-Benz BlueTEC vehicles combine a smooth, quiet ride with fuel efficiency that delivers 20-30 percent higher fuel economy than a comparable gasoline engine making it the GREEN choice for Sheryl Crow and several other celebrities including Kim Cattrall, Billy Baldwin, Kyle MacLachlan, Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber, and Nicole Richie and Joel Madden.

About Mercedes-Benz BlueTEC

Mercedes-Benz, considered to be the pioneer of automotive diesel technology, introduced the first BlueTEC vehicle in October 2006; which captured accolades from the auto industry and was voted “2007 World Green Car of the Year.” Today, Mercedes-Benz offers three BlueTEC SUVs - the R, ML and GL320 BlueTEC, which meet the stringent emissions standards of all 50 States.

The term “BlueTEC” is derived from the innovative AdBlue process that dramatically reduces emissions. For more information about Mercedes-Benz clean diesel BlueTEC vehicles go to www.mbusa.com/bluetec

yeah i agree with everyone but then we couldn’t deny that celebrity is great influence to their fans..

Oh, these celebrities drive green all right. Then they take long flights in their private jets which means they emit more Co2 than the amount they would saved by driving said cars.

I hate people like these. But then I also hate Angelina Jolie.... my opinions are a tad different.

This green thing for the celebrities is an in thing. She not the first to do it but what is important I think is the idea that these people who consume more and spend more because of their extra-resources, are becoming environment conscious and there’s nothing better than that than doing nothing at all. Whether its a Bluetek , a Honda hybrid, and other green cars available in the market, for me the essence goes with the awareness. We are all responsible in keeping earth a better place to drive our cars.

Oh well, you can’t blame her. The article only said that she’s showing off her greener side. It doesn’t necessarily mean that she’s the ’green-est’. Anyway, it’s an A for Effort.

500 miles on a tank? How about leaving the fact out that it’s a 25 gallon tank! 18 city and 24 highway is what the Bluetek’s give back in mileage, if the stars really want to promote being green they’d be more believable in a standard Honda Civic and they can send me the $30k difference.
