Now that Volkswagen has unveiled the new generation Golf VII, it’s time to focus on the next version to be unveiled. The next variant to be launched on the market will be the GTI version, but we’re eagerly waiting to see the upcoming generation Golf R.
Until now, the prototypes of the Golf R that were caught testing were heavily camouflaged, but the vehicle is now doing its tantalizing cammo strip tease as its debut time comes near. This allows for easier access to all of the Golf R’s new digs, including the different front bumper with bigger air intakes and the new quad exhaust pipes.
As for the engine, expect to see a revised version of the 2.0 liter turbocharged four-cylinder found in the current model, with its output increased to a little more than the current 256 HP. The engine will be mated to a DSG or a 6-speed transmission, and power will run through a Haldex all-wheel-drive system.
