Sometimes when we get new spy shots->ke166, it can be a little difficult to really spot the changes compared to the new model. But then sometimes, an automaker parks a new model right next to the old one, so we can see exactly what is different. Jaguar->ke39 was kind enough to do this with its upcoming XJ refresh, so we have a nice picture of exactly how the car is going to change. This is not our first look at new prototypes of the Jaguar XJ->ke1206, but this is the best look we have at seeing how the new car is evolving the overall style.
The new XJ features a sharper grill outlines, with a more defined angle in the top corners. The grille itself sits more upright in the front fascia and looks to have a deeper recess near the bottom. It looks a lot like the teaser for the upcoming 2015 XE->ke3138, so Jaguar may be preemptively moving the lineup towards that new corporate face. All of the front intakes have also been revised.
The rear gets much of the same treatment with just a bit of sharpening happening on most of the surfaces. The subtle crease in the bumper under the trunk lid now has a more defined profile, and the cutout for the license plate sees a squarer shape. The exhaust outlets are losing their distinctive trapezoidal exits for a more traditional oval shape.

Spy Shots
Overall, there will be very few changes between the current Jaguar and the new one. Engine options should stay the same throughout the lineup from the AWD V6 to the fire-breathing, 550-horsepower V-8 in the XJR.
There is going to be a new XJ in a few years, and this is simply a mild refresh to keep the car competitive in the face of new competition.
The 2014 Jaguar XJ is the largest and most luxurious car in automaker’s lineup. Designed to compete with machinery like the Audi A8 and the BMW 7 Series, the XJ is available in both standard and long wheelbase (XJL) version with a collection of engines that range from a supercharged V-6 up to a Supercharged V-8 making 550 horsepower. AWD is also an option.
As expected from an executive limousine style car, the XJ and XJL come filled with leather, wood and technology.
The strength of the Jaguar lineup, and especially the XJ is its heavily aluminum construction. By using a large portion of the lightweight alloy, Jaguar has been able to undercut the curb weights of many of the competitors by hundreds of pounds. The result is a car that handles better, goes faster and uses less fuel.
If you are looking for a unique way to be driven around in speed and comfort, the Jaguar XJ and XJL are the best the market currently has to offer.
