Land Rover->ke46 has had multiple record sales years, and it is looking to capitalize on that momentum with some new models. This week we have some new photos of a new smaller Rover that was undergoing some testing in Sweden.

This new SUV is going to be the replacement for the current Freelander->ke510, but it will no longer be called a Freelander. This new Evoque-based model will become part of the Discovery->ke511 lineup, simplifying the Land Rover model lineup.

The new model carries a codename L550 and it will likely be offered in both five- and seven-seat models. The engine options should mimic what is available now, including a range of V-6 and V-8 engines with a diesel option available for the European markets.

While there isn’t much to see in these photos in regard to styling, but expect the production car to wear a face that is very similar to the Evoque->ke3666. The stylish mini-SUV has improves sales dramatically, so it makes sense to see Land Rover moving that design across the lineup.

We don’t have any confirmation of when the car will be unveiled, but it should be available as a 2015 model.

Spy Shots

As you can see in the spy shots, this tester appears to have the basic shape of the Evoque, but with a slightly larger footprint and a larger rear overhang. You can almost make out that the grille and headlights are very similar to the Evoque.
