It’s been a while since we last heard anything about the upcoming 2014 SLC supercar, but it looks like Mercedes->ke187 decided to spare us the trouble of trying to spy on it and sent us a set of "official" spy shots. In fact, these are the best images we have so far for the upcoming SLC->ke2744.

The SLC will be built as a younger cousin to the SLS and not a direct replacement, as it was once thought. It will be lighter and slimmer, thanks to plenty of carbon fiber and aluminum goodies. With the SLC, Mercedes will try to target the Porsche 911 and lower-end supercars.

Under the hood we will see a V-8 engine downsized to just 4 liters.

The new SLC will be released on the market in 2015 - the same year the SLS hits the scrap heap.

Spy shots

The prototype in the “spy shots” still has on a heavy coat of camouflage, so it is pretty difficult to see what's under it. However, it’s not hard to imagine what the SLC will look like. Lots of rumors suggest that the new sports car will borrow design elements from its soon-to-be-retired cousin, the SLS, but we expect them to receive a more modern interpretation.

The main change we expect to see is a shortened hood, but we do expect the headlights and the front grille to remain almost unchanged.

On the rear, the SLC will wear the same taillights as the SLS, but the exhaust system will likely adopt a new set of end pipes for a refreshed look.
