Once Alfa Romeo->ke1386 unveiled the 4C Concept->ke3773 in 2011, everyone knew it was just a matter of time before the production version hit the market. It’s been a real rollercoaster ride for the 4C and the production version was eventually delayed.

Things are now taking a turn for the better and there is now a light at the end of the tunnel for the compact sports car. Today we have the latest spy shots to prove that Alfa Romeo is pretty much done with the development of the production version 4C and set to start the production-planning phase.

As you probably expected, the production version will be pretty similar to the concept version. Under the hood, the 4C will get a turbocharged four-cylinder engine that delivers over 300 horsepower and ushers its power to the rear wheels. Add in a total weight of only 2,200 pounds and you have a tiny coupe with stout performance numbers. In fact, rumors suggest a 0-to-60 mph sprint time of less than 5 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph.

Expect the new Alfa Romeo 4C to be unveiled at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, with first deliveries coming in the summer. The good news is that the new 4C will also be offered in the U.S. market – the first Alfa to hit these shores from the factory in many years.
