The upcoming Mercedes-Benz AMG GT has just been spotted on public roads again, which means the highly-anticipated sports car is getting ever closer to finally losing its covers. Unfortunately, the reveal date is still a well-guarded secret, with rumors claiming the Stuttgart-based automaker could unveil the vehicle at any time over the next six months. The most optimistic scenario says it’ll hit the stage at the New York Auto Show this week, but we advise that you take that scenario with a pinch of salt.
Last time our paparazzi set their lenses on the AMG GT, the SLS replacement was wearing a crazy green wrap that made it look like it had been born in the Amazon jungle. Although the prototype we came across recently is less eye-stabbing, its body is still hidden under camouflage to further fuel our frustration.
Sure, we do know that the AMG GT will replace the SLS and thus it will borrow most of its styling cues from the latter. We’re also pretty sure it will carry a 4.0-liter, V-8 engine under the hood, with up to 500 horsepower set to motivate the wheels. But how about some skin, Mercedes ?
