Spy Shots: Mercedes CLA 45 AMG Returns to the Testing Grounds

Mercedes CLA 45 AMG

The first spy shots of the future Mercedes CLA 45 AMG were taken by our spy photographers back in August, but since then, the luxury sedan has been holed up somewhere, more than likely getting all of its kinks worked out. With the work seemingly completed, Mercedes has taken the upcoming CLA 45 AMG out for another round of testing.

As you can see, this prototype is still heavily camouflaged, but we can make out the deep front spoiler, wider track and wheels, the massive brakes, the chunky side sills, and the spoiler on the trunk. While Mercedes tried to fool us with those fake exhaust pipes, the spy photographers said they couldn’t disguise the powerful sound that came out of them during the drive.

The CLA 45 AMG will be powered by a 2.0 liter four-cylinder turbo engine delivering a total of 325 HP - the same engine that will first be used in the A45 AMG . Just like the A45 AMG, the CLA 45 AMG will also get four-wheel-drive from Swedish company Haldex to make sure the power doesn’t just make your tires smoke.

Expect to see the new Mercedes CLA 45 AMG sometime in 2013.

this is a small sport luxuty sedane. it will be a good car when it will come up. and with little competition.

i expect it to be priced somewhere around the c class amg. or a bit lower, but not much.

in the next few years we are expecting lots of cars based on the a class from mercedes. the cla, the gla. interesting.

gary, you can bet it is not going to be cheap. mercedes and amg stand proof for that assumption.

i wonder who much is this beauty going to cost.

i was thinking of the m3 too. but you are right. as for the a class, i think it can compete with audi’s a1 rather than the a3.

i think it will be in a class of it’s own.

i think maybe the bmw m3...but no. they have the c class for that. and the a class for audi’s a3.

i wonder what will be the competition for this car. any ideas?

a small sporty car! that looks good!

2.0 liter engine, 325 HP and 4wd. that sounds awesome on any car, even better on an amg mercedes.

the guys at mercedes sure are working hard to get many new cars out.
