After a long deliberation Audi has finally made a decision. The RS5 sports coupe will make it to the US market: "We have voted on it and the car is coming over definitely. But it will be more than a year out from the start of deliveries in Western Europe." This marks the first RS model to be sold in the U.S. since the untimely death of the Audi RS4 Cabriolet in 2008 and it is about time. Some of us have still not gotten over the fact that the RS3->ke3198 wasn't offered on our side.

It is rumored that the US price will be in the $69,500 area, but for a fully equipped RS5, you will have to pay around $75K.

The RS5 is powered by a turbocharged V8 engine with a total output of 450 bhp at 8250 rpm and a maximum output of 317 lbs-ft of torque between 4,000 and 6,000 rpm. The engine is mated to a seven-speed S tronic transmission that can operate in fully automatic mode – or the driver can shift via the innovative selector lever or shift paddles on the steering wheel. The car weighs only 3,802 lbs and sprints from 0 to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds. Top speed is limited to 155 mph, but it can be increased to 173 mph.

We are anxious to take a look at the Audi RS5 up close. Offhand, we can say that, with the exclusion of the convertible top, the RS5 will be a much bigger success than the RS4 due to an increase in horsepower and a cheaper price tag. The fact that the Audi RS5 is even sailing over to our side is enough to boost its sales.
